In accordance with the authority given to HHS by the Social Security Act, the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG) might prohibit a healthcare provider or organization from taking part in Medicare, Medicaid, or another federally financed healthcare program. OIG Exclusion List might well be required. Mandatory exclusion occurs in cases where a person is found guilty of Medicare or Medicaid theft, patients neglect or abuse or illegally administering or distributing controlled medications at the criminal level. The law requires exclusion.
