The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an Express Entry program for people who have already worked in Canada. To qualify, applicants need at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years, gained while authorized to work. The work must be in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC), so jobs in TEER 4 or 5 do not count. Language requirements depend on the TEER level: CLB 7 for TEER 0 and 1, and CLB 5 for TEER 2 and 3. Work done while studying and self-employment do not count towards the experience requirement. Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool and are ranked by their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Requirements can change, so applicants should confirm current rules on the official IRCC website.
