Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) let Canadian provinces and territories nominate candidates who match their local labour needs. Each province sets its own streams, eligibility rules, and application process, and many streams target specific occupations, work experience, or ties to the province. Some nominations are linked to Express Entry, and an Express Entry nomination adds 600 CRS points, which usually leads to an invitation to apply. Other streams use a paper-based application. After a nomination, the candidate still applies to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence. Requirements and intake caps change often, so applicants should check each province’s official page before applying.
